The Berlin International Film Festival is changing its rhythm. Its 77th edition will run from 10 to 21 February 2027, opening one day earlier than usual. The official awards ceremony will take place on Friday 19 February, and the final two days, 20 and 21 February, will be dedicated to audiences.

The change builds on the success of the 2026 edition: 278 films from 80 countries, about 350,000 tickets sold and some 19,500 industry professionals from 135 countries, according to the festival. Director Tricia Tuttle praised Berlin's audience as the event's greatest asset.

For professionals, the Berlinale also remains a major business meeting thanks to the European Film Market and the Berlinale Pro programmes, including Berlinale Talents, which brings together emerging talent from around the world each year.
