The Ventana Sur market takes place from 30 November to 4 December 2026 in Montevideo, Uruguay, which hosts it for the second time after 2024. Screenings and meetings will be spread across venues including the Sodre cultural centre, the Cinemateca Uruguaya and the Teatro Solís.
For its ninth edition, the Proyecta programme, organised with the Cannes Marché du Film and the San Sebastián International Film Festival, has selected twelve first or second feature projects. The aim is to help them find financing and partners, with a focus on co-productions between Europe and Latin America. Teams will pitch on Wednesday 2 December to producers, international sales agents and festival programmers.
The line-up leans heavily on South America, with projects from Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Cuba and Mexico, plus one Italian-Mexican project. Highlights include Peruvian director Melina León's Huaco retrato, Colombian Sara Nanclares' Conejos (Rabbits) and Uruguayan Victoria Pena Echeverría's Cabildo 71. Several projects already involve partners from Spain, France or Italy.
Prizes on offer include a slot at Norway's Sørfond Pitching Forum the following year, invitations for two producers to San Sebastián 2027, a presale of international rights with a minimum guarantee of 10,000 euros (Sideral Cinema award) and a new 6,000-euro ArteKino International Award.
