MIPCOM opened on Monday 12 October 2026 at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, right after MIPJunior, the children's content event held on 10 and 11 October. Until 15 October, broadcasters, streamers, producers and distributors from around the world are buying and selling series, formats and documentaries.
This edition gives a lot of room to new viewing habits. For the first time, the programme was opened by a content creator, the American Dhar Mann. A forum dedicated to artificial intelligence makes its debut, and microdramas, short series shot vertically for phones, have their own matchmaking sessions. YouTube, Banijay and Netflix are among the headliners, and Netflix chief content officer Bela Bajaria is receiving an award.
The stands host large Asian delegations (China, South Korea, Japan) and Turkish companies, as well as Latin American groups. Portugal and Brazil presented “Avenida Portugal”, a Portuguese adaptation of the telenovela “Avenida Brasil” for broadcaster SIC, due to start shooting in November and expected to air in March 2027.
For actors and writers, the market sets the tone: format adaptations, international co-productions and short mobile series all mean future shoots and casting calls. The next regional stop, MIP Cancun, is scheduled for 17 to 20 November in Mexico.
